Our Peer Review Process
The Ugandan Journal of Management and Public Policy Studies uses a double-blind peer review system to protect the anonymity of both authors and reviewers. The journal aims to reach timely decisions on whether manuscripts are accepted or rejected. Submissions that fall outside the journal’s scope or fail to meet editorial standards are not sent for peer review.
All manuscripts submitted to the Ugandan Journal of Management and Public Policy Studies undergo a comprehensive peer-review process to maintain high standards of quality, reliability and credibility. The journal uses a double-blind review system in which both authors’ and reviewers’ identities remain confidential throughout the process.
The review stages include:
Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online platform.
Preliminary Assessment: The editorial team checks whether the manuscript meets the journal’s scope and requirements.
Peer Evaluation: At least two independent specialists review the manuscript using established criteria and provide detailed comments and recommendations.
Editorial Outcome: The editorial team determines whether to accept, request revisions, or reject the manuscript based on reviewer input.
Revision Stage: Authors may be required to revise their work in response to reviewer feedback and resubmit it.
Finalization: After meeting all standards, the manuscript is edited, proofread and readied for publication.

Review Timeline
The peer review process usually takes 8 to 12 weeks, depending on the availability of suitable reviewers, the manuscript's complexity, and the time reviewers need to submit their reports. UJMPPS is committed to ensuring a fair, rigorous, timely, and constructive review process. However, review timelines may vary when additional reviewers are required, reviewer reports are delayed, or substantial ethical, methodological, or editorial issues require further assessment.
